Empowering Students Through Education

Founded in 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® holds the distinction of being the first Black Greek-letter organization, rooted in the mission of service to all humanity. In 1914, the sorority initiated its scholarship program, driven by the belief that supporting young people in their educational pursuits empowers them to uplift others.

Since its establishment in 1947, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Delta Omicron Omega Chapter has faithfully upheld these principles. Over the past 76 years, the chapter has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education. Our scholarships are designed for young women completing high school, and while the criteria and amounts have evolved, we remain committed to supporting students, particularly those attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Today, the Petals of Hope Foundation, Inc., in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Delta Omicron Omega Chapter, continues this longstanding tradition by providing scholarship opportunities to eligible young women graduating from high schools in Orange and Osceola Counties who plan to pursue their education at accredited colleges and universities.
